Understanding Compaction

Weight and Vibration Compacting Soil Unlike static rollers that depend on the weight of the machine to generate the forces required to compress materials, Sakai vibratories introduce a dynamic force that helps to generate a high compaction effect with far less effort at far less cost.

This dynamic force is created by rotating an off-balanced weight within a steel compacting drum. This rotation develops a centrifugal force that is sufficient to lift and drop the heavy steel drum as it moves through its cycle. This cycle repeats itself from 28 to 67 times per second as the machine moves across the material surface.

These dynamic forces typically increase the compacting force up to six times the actual static weight of the drum assembly while helping to rearrange the material particles at the same time for a denser fit.
